Disney unveils Holiday fun
By John Powell - G4TechTV
No matter who is on your gift list this fall or winter, Disney Interactive Studios has got you covered. At their holiday show held at the Royal Ontario Museum, Disney gave journalists, moms, dads and kids of all ages a sneak peak at what the house of mouse has in store for gamers.
The highlights of the show were…
Toy Story Mania
Wii
Available: September 2009
It’s about time. It has been about 10 years since Woody, Buzz Lightyear and their friends graced our gaming screens. Coinciding with the October release of ‘Toy Story’ and ‘Toy Story 2’ in Disney Digital 3-D, ‘Mania’ is somewhat based on the attractions at Disney Resorts. Toy Story characters host a collection of 25 midway style games. There’s shooting gallery games, ring toss, skeet ball and many more. What is truly unique about ‘Mania’ is that Pixar has produced an opening sequence just for the game and the bonus levels themselves are in 3-D.
Split Second
PC, 360, PS3
Available: Q1 2010
Set in a fictional reality television show, ‘Split Second’ takes the ‘Death Race’ idea to a whole new level. The street racing found in ‘Split Second’ adds a whole new element to swapping paint with your opponents. At various junctures, you can actually use the environment as a weapon. You can topple water towers and buildings onto rivals. You can explode gas stations to barbecue them as they drive by. In the airport level I played, you could even use landing airliners to gain the upper hand. There will be local and online multiplayer options. The glimpse at the show definitely left us wanting more.
Jonas
Nintendo DS
November 2009
If you don’t know what a ‘Jonas’ is, you are about the find out. The pop boy band now have their own video game. Inspired by the clever Disney Channel series in which the three brothers play themselves going to high school and living with their parents in an old fire station, you can dress them up, play live concerts, solve various perplexing puzzles and general balance their work, school and family lives. The online portion of the game will provide an environment where Jonas fans can interact with one another.
A Christmas Carol

Disney turns the classic story into a puzzle adventure. Ushering in the release of the new Robert Zemeckis animated film starring Jim Carrey, the release has 10 single player mini games (like the fun snowball fight), a story mode, an interactive version of the original novel and mini games in which players pass the DS around to participate.
