Protecting your data from prying eyes is more important than ever before. For this, Untethered Labs created Gatekeeper, a key fob sized wireless "lock and key" for your computer that automatically locks your computer when you walk away from it and unlocks it when you return.

Gadgets and Gifts for your Golfing Dad
With Father's Day right around the corner, I don't know of any Dad who wouldn't be happy with a little gift that can help improve his golf game. And one gadget that can help him with that task is the Blast Golf Precision Motion Sensor. It's a small easy to use waterproof sensor and golf club attachment that sits discretely atop almost any putter or driver grip. It is so smart, it knows when Dad is moving and dynamically powers itself up and by using Blast's proprietary motion detection algorithms, accurately collects real-time 3D action metrics.

Pure Gear Bluetooth enabled selfie stick
The invention of the monopod opened the doors to almost endless selfie possibilities as people no longer had to rely solely on the length of their arm for getting the right shot. And while timers certainly made the task a little easier there was certainly room for improvement. So in their infinite wisdom, accessory maker Pure Gear decided to create a selfie stick that was Bluetooth enabled with an in-line shutter button so you'd no longer have to reach for your device to snap the picture.

I'm simply amazed how many people carry around a thousand dollar smartphone like the Apple iPhone 6 Plus in their back pocket without any sort of protection. For some, it might be a case of just never getting around to it; others might prefer to show off their fine gadget's natural beauty and some may simply hate any extra bulkiness an add-on accessory might bring.

You've just upgraded your headphones. You sit down at your computer, plug them in grab your favorite tune or launch your favorite game and start to play. You now expect the sound would be much better particularly with high quality audio content. However, you find the difference is marginal and you're somewhat disappointed. You may not realize it, but it may not have anything to do with the headphones or the audio files but more to do with the on the laptop hardware itself.

Bottle opening timepiece focuses on Happy Hour
I don't usually find it a challenge to come up with a headline for a story or review, but while tossing around a couple of ideas, this one certainly made me want to have a "beverage". And so it should, that is, for the simple fact that when staring at it the entire face looks somewhat fuzzy, the hour and the minute hand appearing somewhat blotchy and none of the numbers visible with the exception of the "5".

I really enjoy using my Apple Wireless Bluetooth Keyboard but one thing it's missing, similar to many notebooks, is a numeric keypad. I'm certainly not an accountant or do tons of data entry, but truthfully, having a keypad handy to quickly punch in numbers rather than pecking one number at a time can certainly be a godsend. Apple doesn't make one, so accessory maker Satechi designed one to fill the void.

PlayStation PS3- Slimmer and Leaner
The Sony PS3 is getting a makeover, - not an extreme one, but rather more like a Jenny Craig makeover. It'll be lighter, slimmer and a little less hungry for power. Available at the beginning of September, the new model it will shed a third of its mass, a third of its weight and will consume a third less power. And less power will also make for a smaller and quieter fan.

Broadband Almost Everywhere – No Stick Required
It used to be that Internet-Ready meant that your device either had a wired either card or a wireless adapter built-in. We then saw Mobile Internet-Ready which meant a dongle, a stick or and external adapter was needed to give you access to the mobile network. Well Rogers and Hewlett-Packard HP have changed all that and you'll have one less thing to carry around with Canada's first 3.5G embedded notebook.

Brother's Latest Wireless/Cordless MFC Makes Sense
For the longest time, I thought the most useless item on a fax machine or a multi-function printer (MFC) was the actual phone. It was either a corded handset or just a keypad with no receiver to dial out. Now considering the fax machine is soon to be going the way of the dodo bird – sorry Fred, as a phone into today's cordless world, mostly of them are now more or less useless.

Caffeine-Infused Applications Top iTunes Chart
With all the things the Apple iPhone can do, it's amazing that the top download for the last 2 consecutive months is coffee related and it has anything to do with the taste and the smell of freshly ground beans or a gimmick of some new scratch and sniff technology.

Balanzza – The Real Swiss Army Knife of Weighing Things
I'm not in the habit of weighing things, especially myself, but between Airlines offering to lighten your wallet if you're luggage is a feather over the limit and eBay – no need to elaborate here, a handy weighing contraption capable of accurately predicting your poundage is certainly welcome in my arsenal.

Picture Yourself with a Quikpod
How often have you returned from your travel destination only to discover that very few of the pictures have you in them? If we travel and want pictures of ourselves, unless we have really long arms or can shapeshift like Elasticman or rely on the kindness of strangers we often leave our destination without a photo of without ourselves in it.

There are 2 features that can be found on almost every other portable music player on the market except the iPod and that's an FM tuner and the built-in ability to record voice or audio and while the Apple iPod Radio Remote added and external FM solution for iPod users, voice recording was not an option – until now.

MACify Your BlackBerry
The word in the title is pronounced Mack-if-I and I'm not sure that's really even a word. In any event, a little innovative company out of San Diego called Information Appliance Associates (IAA) produce the niftiest little applications and utilities under the PocketMac brand, that are truly functional, priced “light” and most often a must buy.

DS 'Guitar Hero' a handful
I usually don't get too excited about the opening of a new store, but when it comes to the Apple Store I have to make an exception. Visiting an Apple Store is a unique experience itself, but to be part of the christening of a brand spanking new one, just adds to the excitement.

HELLO - I'm a MAC, and I'm a PC, etc...
I like commercials – well not all commercials. Since 1984, when in an Orwellian fashion Apple introduced Macintosh – and we saw “why 1984, won't be like 1984”, not only have I been hooked on the Mac but I just can't get enough of their commercials. So each time a new one comes out, I head straight to Apple's site, where I can view the latest in 4 sizes including high-definition

Apple iMac Breaks the 3GHz Barrier
Take note, the iMac has entered its 6th generation. While it's descendant, the original bloated 300Mhz Bondi-Blue, was responsible in putting Apple back on the map a decade ago, it's latest incarnation is an incredible speed-demon.

Old Mac – Time to Say Goodbye?
When it comes to technology, I‘m a fairly early adopter. However, I don't exactly camp out with a sleeping bag at the front of the line every time the latest and greatest hits the street. Although admittedly, as a self-professed Gadget Guy, the temptation certainly exists. Ok, I like to play! But in reality, it's the self-talk, the evil “B” word – “Budget” that keeps me from that temptation while delivering me a swift reality check.

TuneTalk Makes Your iPod a Voice Recorder
While the iPod revolution has gone through some major evolution, one feature found on many music devices, that's always been missing on the iPod, besides a built-in radio tuner, is the ability to do voice recordings. We focus so much on the hearing, playing, shuffling and downloading – all output elements, we sometimes need a little input.

Apple Doubles Solid State Capacities & Thinks Pink
With capacities of hard drive bloating as demand for storage soars to infinity and beyond, as my pal Buzz Lightyear would say, one of the complaints I often hear about a select few of Apple’s offerings is the meager capacities of the devices that have solid state drives.   While the iPod Classic today boasts a respectable 160GB in its compact package, albeit a traditional hard drive,  Apple’s offerings that incorporate solid state devices, more specifically the iPod Nano, the iPod Touch and iPhone (not in Canada – of course) have been limited to a mere 5-10% of those capacities-  8Gb and 16GB respectively.

MacWorld 2008 Keynote Highlights
For the Mac Enthusiast, one of the greatest things about a new year, after New Year's Eve, is the always anticipated Keynote from Steve Jobs, the CEO, Apple Inc. Prior to the keynote, which this year was on Jan 15th, rumours had run rampant including supposed leaked drafts of Steve's keynote. A new MacBook, a Tablet Mac, a sub-notebook and iPhone part-deux were all part of the mill. But Steve has been playing this game for a long time. Perhaps it was Steve himself that let slide these vicious rumours.

The iMac Evolution
Apple has unveiled it’s most powerful, sleekest all-in-one computer to date – the iMac. Now the iMac line itself isn’t new. In fact, coming of age, it’s now in it’s 10th year and it’s 4th generation. Its latest reincarnation has shed the iPod looking white in favour of a beautiful MacBook Pro family style anodized aluminum.

How soon we forget that it was the iMac, where the “i” stood for Internet and not the iPod, that saved Apple from the brink of destruction and started the “i" revolution.
