Location Based Services (LBS) for Consumers and Business using GPS, Internet and Cellular technologies.
Trackem® (designed for businesses) and Trackem Lite™ (for consumers) are finally opening up the benefits of Location Based Services to Small and Mid-Sized Business owners and families. Solutions Into Motion (SiM), the company behind the satellite and cellular tower monitoring and tracking, is leading the way in this fast-growing category for both cell phones and vehicles.
Owners and parents use the Internet to determine locations of staff, family members and business and personal vehicles.
SiM’s location based services use the Global Positioning System, which is based on a collection of 24 NavStar satellites circling the earth. The satellites continually send out their position. A land-based GPS receiver, in a cell phone or a vehicle, uses the information to triangulate its position. Trackem and Trackem Lite also use cellular tower triangulation.
After processing the information, the location is sent wirelessly to Solutions Into Motion, where it is mapped, tabled and displayed on personal web pages on the Internet.

ABOUT THE GUEST
Vince Poloniato joined the wireless communications revolution by happenstance. Now he’s helping expand its boundaries. Vince bought his first cell phone in 1989, but never received a bill. Eventually, he called the dealer. The bills hadn’t been sent on purpose, he was told. It was a recruitment tactic for the owner to lure him from his job selling fax machines to dealer networks. It was a good call for both. Vince joined and never looked back. After helping grow that business, Vince set up Primeline Connections in 1996. As owner/operator, he was one of Ontario’s largest Telus Mobility dealers and one of Canada’s Top 3 Motorola dealers. In 2003 and 2004 he received the ‘Motorola Best Dealer in the World Award’.
His increasing frustration with the industry – and particularly the frustration end users were feeling with ever-more complicated and expensive applications – pushed him to open Solutions Into Motion, a company focused on providing simple, affordable and useful technology.
With Trackem, the University of Western Ontario graduate is delivering on his goal.
Trackem, launched in April 2004, allows business owners and families to use the Internet and Global Positioning to monitor vehicles, staff and family members while they are driving, or through their cell phone. More than 3,500 Trackem cell phones are in use in Canada and the ‘location-based services’ category is exploding. It has made the unmanageable, manageable.
With the concept proven and more than 200 Trackem dealers across Canada, Vince, 40, and a father of three, is bringing the simple, affordable technology across the country to vehicle dealerships and his burgeoning dealer network.
